Zoya Phan, campaign manager for Burma Campaign UK

As ceasefire negotiations and the release of political prisoners add to faith in Burma’s reforms, Douglas Herbert meets Zoya Phan, an exiled Burmese political activist. She still distrusts the Burmese government as it has broken many ceasefire agreements in the past. She also points out that the army is still attacking civilians in other parts of the country.

Yes... You right Zoya... It is difficult to trust them.. I think if your father still alive the KNU peace delectation would not be signed early like that now.

i think u all are dragging back. u all do not consider for karen people who dislike war and have to suffer a lot. go and ask any villigers, they will say, we all want peace. a real peace. We also dont trust people who shout from overseas. we trust knu who fight bravely n who signed bravely for their people.

I think klwer lar poe want to his grand son and daughter (or generation) to be the slavery of Burmese forever. and it seem he doesn't understand the way of Burmese dirty politic game. Learn the past experience. Now the Burmese military rush to signed with KNU but they attack Kachin. Zoya phan doesn't complain who signed but she point of what really going on in Burma. The little general Knowledge is very dangerous for our Karen future.

Do you know why? ,....If the people from oversea don't speak up the international communities woun't know what will happening around Myanmar and how the ethnic peoples are suffering. We got to be unite. We need more understand between our Karen and other ethnic..Burma(Bamar) also an ethnic too. Know it..!..

Hi to all who give comments... Have your house ever been search by MI? Have your family members been put into jail for 17/1? Have you ever visit Prison to see Karen People who put inside with 17/1? Have your family have to walk for whole day from village to town to get rice because of road block by military? Have you ever face your father died in prison in old age due to 17/1? (17/1 = connection with KNU) I hate this 17/1 you know. I hate millitary government. What KNU decision now for peace process is the best solution for Karen People. But this KNU peace talk process become a concern for the opportunist around the world who used KNU name and do a living. They are mostly not karen people... A true Karen People Want Peace... peace is totally not a slavery.
